“The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above water”.
Sigmund Freud correlated mind with an iceberg. He did so by dividing iceberg into 3 unequal yet relevant parts of our mind- conscious, subconscious and unconscious.
Our conscious mind is our thinking mind which makes decision and solves problems. It holds no memories and it works to solve conflicts. Most of the people fill the conscious mind with irrelevant clutter. ‘Irrelevant clutter’ is our regrettable choices which make us lead an ambiguous life. An ignorant mind is a mind which is a victim of this clutter. Such mind tries to ignore conflicts in life. An incapable and indecisiveness develops an elude attitude.
Ignorant mind is a victim of incomplete knowledge. When we are not able to see things as a whole we suffer the consequences of an ignorant mind. “The whole is more important than its part”, is rightly said by Wolfgang Kohler. Viewing the totality of a situation provides us a meaningful insight which presents us with sudden solution of a problem. A half-filled glass of water is a true depiction of an ignorant mind but it can always be replenished by adding complete wisdom in it.
